The Daily Commute

Austin's Rush Hour:

6 a.m. to 9 a.m. & 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Traffic starts to been noticeable on the I-35 and 183 after 3 p.m.

Austin's I-35 currently ranks 2nd place with the worst traffic in Texas. Without any accidents, the usual traffic starts on US 290 just south of Austin to the 290 south of Wells Branch.

Loop 1 (MoPac) has an express lane that its cost increases as the traffic worsens, the peak toll rate for traveling the 11 miles from Lady Bird Lake to Parmer Lane has spiked to a startling $8.38 sometime between 5:30 and 6 p.m., including $6.28 for those who entered near Far West and took only the northern 6 miles.

Capital of Texas Hwy. also suffers from traffic, but the daily commuters worst enemy on this route are the traffic lights. From the 290 up to the Pennybacker Bridge, there is no way around it.
